The village in Nongoma across the road from King Goodwill Zwelithini palace.

A man slaughters a cow in preparation for a traditional Zulu ceremony.

In order to get to King Goodwill Zwelithini’s palace we had to travel south from Pongola to Nongama. During this drive we had to travel for about thirty kilometres on one of the worst dirt roads. About a kilometre before we reached the palace the dirt road ended and a very smooth tarred road started.

On the one side of the road was a massive palace that is not too visible from the road. On the other side the village. I spoke to some of the residents and they told me that they do not like King Goodwill Zwelithini. They said he only takes care of himself and that he does not support the community. A women told me that they only got electricity in their house about a year ago and that it does not work most of the times.
