The Laager with bronze replicas of ox-wagons used by Voortrekkers at the Battle of Blood River Monument.

The Ncome river also known as Blood River where the battle took place on 16 December 1938.

The Ncome Museum.

This is the only place in South Africa where  two institutions are present on one battlefield. On the one side of the Ncome river (also known as Blood river) is a monument commemorating the victory of the Voortrekkers over the Zulu impies and on the other side of the river there is a monument that offers a re-interpretation of the 1838 battle and Zulu culture in general.

They have built a bridge over the river to link the two heritage sites but it was closed on the day we visited the area.
